The Phatory is pleased present to an installation of paintings Robert Fox: January 17 - March 1. An opening reception will be held on Thursday, January 17, from 7 – 9:00 P.M.

Robert Fox’s exhibition "Tripping" presents pictographic narratives of life in the Alaskan wilderness. Rendered on found plywood with car enamel retrieved from local dumpsters Fox’s illustrations of forsaken hippie compounds and other structures of questionable purpose entertain reasons to explain their existence. Behind the unforgiving coldness and its hallucinatory effects portrayed by Fox are suggestions that there is something about such extraordinary places that elicit an addicting foolhardiness.

Fox is a self-taught artist of Fairbanks where he is an established participant of that city’s art scene and is a keen observer of the lifestyles and coping mechanisms of both seasoned survivor and newly arrived inhabitant.
